Hello, thank you for visiting my site. I’m far better at cooking than technical website stuff – but lots more will be coming soon, I promise. For now here’s a little bit about me…
My whole ethos is to inspire and help people to simply cook more, with well-explained and thoroughly tested recipes that look as good as they taste.
I grew up near Birmingham, England and first learned to cook good family food by my Mum’s side, pretending I was Delia Smith.
Fast-forward to 2003 and, following University and a few years in the wrong job, I enrolled at Leith’s School of Food and Wine to learn how the pros do it. Following my Diploma, I won the prestigious placement at BBC Good Food and went on to spend six happy years on the magazine team, writing recipes, editing for top chefs and cookery writers and food styling for photography.
In 2009 I teamed up with Phaidon Press to create my first big book, What to Cook and How to Cook it. And now I’m thrilled to say that a follow-up, What to Cook and How to Cook it: Fresh & Easy has just hit the shelves.
Happily, when not writing books I’m also a regular contributor to top food magazines here in the UK, including BBC Good Food, Waitrose Kitchen, Olive and Fabulous Food.
I live with my partner (and top recipe taster) Ross, love to sing in The Pop-Up Choir, travel, draw and daydream about running a tea and cake shop by the seaside.
